Finally I find some time to update this blog! Though it gets less posts since I work now, I still want to keep you up-to-date with what I am doing. Read on to hear more about what I’ve done over the past months 🙂
Update from my job
As I said in the previous article, I am working in Germany since September. The beginnings were pretty intense because my skills in German are nothing compared to my English, so it was sometimes hard to communicate properly. Moreover, this period of time was complicated because several people left the company, so we merged with a new team and it took some time to get the things back on track.
But most of the things are arranged now! I am currently working on two projects. The first one is for an external client of the company and includes finite-elements calculations regarding a new powertrain geometry, and the second one is an R&D project. To maintain confidentiality, I’d rather not say more. But if you want to know what I am doing, just know that I am doing vibrations calculations on mechanical parts using finite element software.
Let’s go for 2017!
So now, we’re in 2017, finally! I perceived 2016 as a weird year. I say “perceived” because it may not have been a bad year, but I felt it was not my best year either. For instance, I got to work on interesting projects at school during my final year, but with people with different work methods. That’s where I learned that a the project is not about the idea, but really about the connection within the team. Then, I did my internship in Normandy. Once again, it was a good experience, but I was hoping for another experience abroad so I percieved it as a failure.
In 2017, I want to find the 2015-Corentin again. 2015 was a good year for me with good grades at school and my internship in the US. Of course, 2017 will be different, but what I mean is that I want to be the actor of my life again. Among the ideas that I have, I want to show the company where I’m working at what my skills are, and I also want to start running again, like I did in Normandy during my internship.
And the US?
As for the US, it’s still pretty unclear for me, for many reasons. The first thing is that I don’t know how long I will stay in Germany. I am supposed to stay until late August and I would like to do at least one more year here. Moreover, I want to see what it will be like for foreigners to get a US working visa under the Trump presidency. I am still highly motivated and some of the job offers I see online are really tempting, but I don’t want to do silly things just to go to the US again. I want that to be a real project, like my internship. By then, I keep on saving money 🙂
I don’t know when the next post will be published, so by then I wish you all a happy new year! As a French singer said, I wish you good health, as for the rest you will have to get it by yourself 🙂
